Earlier this week, Exencial’s investment team held a client webinar to deliver an economic and markets update as uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic persists.
Starting off the presentation, Chief Investment Officer Tim Courtney provided an overview of the current economic environment and explained that this is the quickest bear market on record. He further discussed the primary risks the market faces, such as increasing insolvency, as well as factors that will influence a recovery, including deferred consumption later in 2020. Lastly, he touched on potential actions to take from an investment standpoint.
Additionally, Senior Analyst/SELECT portfolio manager Rich Erwin discussed recent adjustments made to Exencial’s SELECT Strategy, such as eliminating companies most impacted by the coronavirus outbreak and instead titling the portfolio more toward economically stable names. He also urged investors to stay the course and avoid exiting their positions during a panic stage as markets historically recover in the long term.
Finally, Lead Analyst/SELECT portfolio manager David Yepez analyzed the pandemic from a healthcare perspective and explained how the U.S. is potentially better positioned to handle an increase in coronavirus cases in comparison to other affected nations.
If you have any questions regarding current economic conditions or your investment strategy, please contact your Exencial advisor. In the event you were unable to join this webinar, click here to access a recorded version.
