Employee Spotlight: Meet Sean Kayes, Senior Wealth Consultant

Exencial’s employee spotlight series highlights the achievements, experiences and career paths of our team members. This quarter’s spotlight features Senior Wealth Consultant Sean Kayes.
After graduating from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and concentration in Management, Sean started his career in the nonprofit sector working with Oak Service Corporation, before shifting to a business development and client management role at a composites distribution corporation.
In 2018, Sean’s fascination with investing and finance, coupled with his passion for helping others, led him to join the wealth management industry. Sean held the role of Business Development Officer at Willingdon Wealth Management in North Carolina until Exencial acquired the firm in 2020. Sean then assumed his current position as Senior Wealth Consultant.
At Exencial, Sean prides himself on developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and prospects and explaining the tools and capabilities Exencial has to offer to best serve them. He ensures a smooth onboarding process by working alongside his team to integrate clients into a cohesive financial plan. Additionally, Sean spearheads several programs at Exencial, including the SmartAsset partnership.
Sean’s drive for empowering clients to lead financially flexible lives is eminent through his dedication to the industry. Earlier this year, Sean earned his CFP® certification after successfully completing an extensive coursework and a rigorous six-hour exam.
As a lover of all outdoor activities, Sean spends his free time backpacking, participating in ultra-marathons and obstacle course races, and is an avid golfer. He also enjoys attending football and basketball games at his alma mater and is an active member of his church, where he serves on a volunteer committee.
