A Recap of Exencial’s Mid-Year Outlook Webinar

Written by Cydney Higgins | Jul 22, 2022 7:48:07 PM

Thank you to all who participated in Exencial’s semiannual client webinar. Between rising interest rates, inflation, the war in Europe and global supply chain woes, Exencial’s Investment Team wanted to take time to break down drivers and headwinds for the asset classes moving forward.

During the session, Chief Investment Officer Tim Courtney provided an overview of our market and economic outlook. He explained the tale of two halves we have experienced so far in 2022 due to fluctuating interest rates, as well as the specific indicators we’re watching, including Treasury yields, home prices and inflation. Finally, he addressed recent earnings numbers.

Additionally, Jeff Hibbeler, Senior Portfolio Manager, weighed in on the fixed income landscape, describing how all eyes are on the Federal Reserve and inflation. He noted that the bond market has been adjusting to and pricing in higher rate hikes from the Fed, and discussed yield curve flattenings and inversions.

Toward the end of the session, Senior Portfolio Manager Randy Farina dived into the outlook for equities, underscoring the importance of the intrinsic value of stocks. Lastly, Jon Burkett-St. Laurent, Senior Portfolio Manager, provided his insight into the options market.

If you have any questions about recent market activity or your investment strategy, please consult your Exencial advisor.
