This quarter, Exencial Wealth Advisors is proud to spotlight Alex Berney, who serves as the firm’s Chief Operations Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and in-house counsel. Alex joined the firm in 2024 and quickly became a member of the leadership team, helping shape both the operational structure and culture of Exencial.
He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Oklahoma, entering the workforce with a strong interest in purpose-driven work. Early roles at the Kirkpatrick Foundation and Kirkpatrick Bank gave him experience across legal, operational and corporate functions. By the time he joined Exencial, he was looking for a challenge that offered long-term opportunity for growth and a clear sense of mission.
At Exencial, Alex oversees operations and compliance and is the firm’s in-house attorney. He works across teams to simplify processes, build structure and support colleagues in doing meaningful work. He focuses on creating an environment where employees know they are loved and set up for long-term success. He brings energy to the job and takes pride in making sure the firm’s internal experience reflects the same level of care Exencial gives to its clients.
Being part of a company that puts as much effort into developing people as it does growing the business is the most rewarding part of his job. Alex is motivated by the idea that a company can do both well, and that belief shows up in how he approaches the work. He is eager to find ways to push the boundaries of Exencial’s success without losing sight of the people who are responsible for making it happen.
Outside the office, Alex likes to stay active. He plays soccer when he can, enjoys time outdoors, and recently became a father. He and his wife are raising their young daughter together, spending most of their free time with her and enjoying the pace of this new season. He brings the same level of curiosity and energy into everything he does, whether that’s tackling a complex work project or perfecting a cookie recipe at home. He’s driven most by his role as a father and husband and by the idea of making each day count for those he shares it with.
